It’s all too easy to be content to go to work, and just come home again. Filling ones evenings with sitting and watching TV or the surfing the net before bed. This last week has seen the beginning of the reversal initiative.
Fortuitously, a college prospectus landed on my doormat, and after giving it the initial shun that I give all unwanted articles arriving through my letterbox, I decided to see what there was on offer. To cut a long story short, and with several phone calls with friends deliberating of what was on offer, not to mention the best evening to choose I am starting a pottery class in just over 1 week.
Already has seen the emergence of numerous concealed grins, lots of reference to ‘Ghost’ the film, and comments about Patrick Swayze. Although, personally I am more of a Demi Moore fan myself, more so in G.I. Jane but I am digressing. Not to mention people the singing the song by the Righteous Brothers when Demi is making a pot on her wheel. Everyone asking for a thumb pot …. Do I have enough thumbs? I eagerly await ten weeks of mess.
I have also got my bum in gear and got my leisure card, which allows my discounted swims etc and I intend to start using the facilities in the town. I have also made arrangements to start play sport. Squash with a colleague and Badminton with my boss’s wife. She can beat me any time!!
Knowing my new friend would be out of town this weekend. I did not want to sit in, so I organised an impromptu drink with my work mates. Starting drinking from work I eventually got home at 1am.
Wow did I have a head the following morning. Still a good time was had by all, and we drank, danced and laughed till my boss fell over and we were asked to leave the Retro 80’s bar. Did I mention the beach balls and hoola hooping??
I was struck the following day with retail panic, realizing I had nothing to wear to play these sports in. With this firmly under control thanks to Matalan, the day was finished off with a trip to the cinema to see Sahara.
Here I spent a pleasant 2hrs with Matthew McConaughey and the charming Penelope Cruz with popcorn and smuggled in Pepsi Max. Who says you can’t have fun alone.
Saturday night saw a restful evening in front of the TV, which was welcome, but just not every evening or it makes for a very boring bear :-)
I love to see a movie by myself every once in a while.
Nice photos, BTW.
